As the centre of the Turkish Government, Ankara is an important crossroad of trade, located at the centre of Turkey’s highway and railway networks.
Istanbul is Turkey’s most populous city and its cultural and financial centre. The city was chosen as joint European Capital of Culture for 2010.
Izmir is known as the country’s first port for export and host of many international fair and exhibition events. It has submitted a bid to host the Universal Expo in 2015.
